Will the quality on the 38” (110ppi) non-4K be better than the 5K2K (~160ppi) because of being firmly in the non-retina ppi range? I’d rather have better resolution than a larger screen, but if the resolution difference is barely noticeable, I’d go for the larger screen. I know the 38-inch isn’t 4K, but will the quality be noticeably worse than the 5K2K?

I understand that changing the resolution scales down the size, but does it also decrease the display quality or just the size?įor example, if I have a 5120x2160 5K2K monitor but have to scale it down to 3840x1620, will the quality on a movie be worse than it would be at the native resolution? Or does it just scale down the size but keep the same display quality? I’ve seen issues with blurry screens and resolution issues on M1, as well as all the scaling fixes (SwitchResX, BetterDummy, etc.), but I’m confused about what it does to the display quality. Even though the 5K2K has better resolution and higher PPI, Will the quality on the 38” be better than the 5K2K because of being firmly in the non-retina ppi range? Of these two, the 38” inch is in the ~110 ppi non-retina range, but the 5K2K monitor is in the middle area, around ~160 ppi. I know there have been a lot of discussions about this and I’ve done hours of research, but I’m a little confused about how resolution scaling works with ultrawides. These are a lot of questions, so I’ll gladly hand out some gold to anyone who takes the time to actually help me with all of this.
